History of OSA

The Otto family and the founder of OSA, Mr.Jürgen Otto, stand for family-lead entrepreneurship since 1884.

The Westfalian family has maintained connections to Asia for decades through the metal industry. In the 19th century Jürgen Otto’s grandfather established the first foreign-owned metal goods company in Qingdao (Tsingtao), which later expanded to Indonesia. Following the First World War and before the outbreak of the Second World War, the business was re-established in Shanghai.
